Congratulations to Abigail, my adult piano student in China, who took part in Piano Day 2025 with enthusiasm, skill, musicianship and great energy!
Shen Wai International School in Nanshan, Shenzhen, held a “Pianothon” to celebrate Piano Day. This day of continuous piano playing was a fund raiser for the Captivate Charity, based in China.
Abigail recorded her performance, and you can watch a video of it. She played the first movement from Kuhlau’s Sonatina in C, Op. 20 No. 1. Kuhlau, a German pianist and composer, lived from 1786-1832, and his classical piano sonatas are much loved.
I hope you enjoy Abigail’s performance! I am very proud of her achievement – it takes a lot of courage to perform in public, as many of you will know!
Thank you all for your kind feedback, I really appreciate it! I look forward to seeing more performances posted here. Finding a piano teacher who has built my confidence to perform a more challenging piece has been wonderful. Therefore a huge thank you to Rory too!
Thanks Abigail! I love teaching you, you are a super-responsive pupil. And definitely, more performances everyone, please!
