Happy Piano Day 2025!

Did you know that a piano has 88 keys?

Did you know that the 88th day of the year is marked as Piano Day?

Did you know that this year is the 10th Anniversary of Piano Day?

Well, you do now!

This year, Piano Day falls on Saturday 29th March. There are many events taking place to mark the occasion; some of these events involve students and other amateurs simply playing for enjoyment, or raising money for good causes. Other events are concerts for which people can buy tickets, and there are some fantastic professional performers taking part in these.

There is more information at pianoday.org where you can find a link to the Piano Day Playlist on Spotify, and browse the events taking place around the world.

Some of my pupils are already well aware of Piano Day and have signed up to pianothons and other exciting events in their area. But the day is for everyone! You are encouraged to play the piano, and if you can find a public piano, so much the better!

I have a very special connection to Coach House Pianos, whose London showroom is hosting a fantastic concert on 29th March at 5pm. Please have a look here for more information, and if you can get to London that afternoon, you will really enjoy it. The showroom will of course be open for people to look at and try the pianos! The whole event sounds amazing, with performances of works by Beethoven, Ravel, Debussy, Elgar and Liszt.

Do have a look at the list of the other events as well – they all look amazing! If you can’t attend an organised concert, why not get together with some friends and have a special “Piano Day Event” of your own? You could play to each other, or just listen to some wonderful recordings of piano music together. Make it fun, and have a great time!

Whatever you decide, I do hope you will make Piano Day 2025 special, for yourself, your family and, of course, for your piano!
