Carols, Candles and Cake!

You are all invited to Hemblington Church on Sunday 14th December for our Candlelit Carol Service, followed by Cake! I know some of you are too far away to make this, but if you’re in Norfolk on that day, please do come along! It’s a very special event, with the Christmas story told through prose, poetry and drama, carols to sing and a bright, festive atmosphere.

Hemblington Church is a beautiful little Medieval church, remotely situated in a field, although there’s parking on the field opposite, and sometimes down the lane as well. We have a famous wall painting of St Christopher, and a beautiful Medieval font.

For our carol service we have a small music group: organ, clarinet, saxophone and cello. What a lovely combination of instruments! Our organ is quite new, having only arrived in September, and I shall be playing it, as I do almost every Sunday morning.

I took this photo in October this year, and it shows our south porch. A few years ago, we had a new entrance made on the other side of the tower, with level access for those who need it. A lavatory, wash basin and baby changing facilities were installed at the same time, making the church more useable for events, school groups and so on.

The churchyard to the south, pictured, supports an ancient hay meadow. It’s managed by a local conservation group, and we are very proud of it. We believe the hay meadow to have been in existence since Anglo-Saxon times.

You can read about the church, its mural, its churchyard and all forthcoming services on the Hemblington Church website.

Update to the Donkey Competition!

This means that you need to get your skates on and start your Donkey practice now! You will perform it to me during your lesson in the week of 8th December, and if you win your category, you will get your prize the following week. Don’t forget, there are four categories, and everyone is in with a chance!

If you’ve already forgotten what to do, please re-read Humoreque here.
