NKO

The Norfolk Keyboard Orchestra was started in January 2008 to give young pianists and keyboard players an opportunity to play together in a social setting.

It seemed to me that children learning to play other instruments were quickly incorporated into school bands and orchestras, but there was nothing like that for those who were learning piano or keyboard, especially in the early stages.

I started NKO to address this problem, and it quickly grew and gained many members. The emphasis is on playing together and learning to be part of an orchestra. It’s fun, it’s sociable and it’s different. In fact, NKO is the only orchestra of its type in the country!

We still have a relatively young membership, and would love to have more adult members. We do have a few, but there’s safety in numbers, so if any adult piano or keyboard students would like to join us we’d be delighted to welcome you to the Norfolk Keyboard Orchestra!

Rehearsals take place on Thursdays, 5.30-7.00pm, at Brundall Memorial Hall, Links Avenue, Brundall. NR13 5LL. We rehearse weekly during term-time only, and there’s a concert for parents, families and friends at the end of each term.

Please get in touch with me if you’d like to know more, or to apply to join NKO. We’d love to hear from you!

NKO in rehearsal for our ceilidh, summer 2022

Above, there’s a short video of part of our rehearsal in June 2022 for our ceilidh. This was our first ceilidh, and it was very successful! We had a professional caller and drummer, and everyone who came along had a great time!

NKO is now run by Callum Nicholls and Kit Marsden. You can contact Callum on 09nichollsc@gmail.com and Kit on mail@manek.org.uk

Both Callum and Kit would love to hear from you and will tell you more about NKO and how to become a member.
